Uploading Specifications for a Product Entry
Product specifications define the performance expectations and limits which are used for comparison against measurement data gathered during validation test, simulation test, and production test. To upload product specifications to Specification Compliance Manager, you must download the specification template file and add your product specifications in accordance with the formatting requirements.
- Open the All Products page.
- Select the product to open the Spec view.
-
Open the menu in the top-right corner of the Spec view and
click Download Spec Template.
The specification template file includes information about the formatting requirements for product specifications in Specification Compliance Manager. Refer to Product Specification Template File for more information about the specification template file.Note If the Spec view is empty, the Download Spec Template button appears in the center of the view.
- Adjust the formatting of your product specifications to align with the requirements in the specification template file.
-
Create a spreadsheet tab within the file for each product specification
category by creating copies of the Spec_<Your Category
1> spreadsheet tab.
Note Specification Compliance Manager also supports files with only a single combined Spec_Data tab.
- Insert your product specifications into each specification category tab within the spreadsheet.
- Edit the name of each product specification category tab to include the category name and define the data type as functional or parametric. For example: Spec_CategoryName_Functional
- Save the file as an Excel document (.xlsx file format).
- Open Specification Compliance Manager and click Upload Specs.

OK.
Note Specification Compliance Manager does not allow user actions, such as UI navigation, during the specification file upload process.
After the specification file upload process is complete, Specification Compliance Manager displays the product specifications on the Spec view. The Measurement view, Compliance view, and Spec Mapping view also become available at this time.
If the specification file contains errors, such as missing entries in mandatory columns or incorrectly formatted data, Specification Compliance Manager generates an error log file to explain the issues in the file that you must address. Error log files are saved to the default downloads folder for your web browser.
- To update the product specifications, create a new specifications file and click Update Specs to upload the new file to Specification Compliance Manager. This will override the existing product specifications with the information in the new file.
- To delete the specifications displayed on the Spec view, open the menu in the top-right corner of the Spec view and click Delete Specs & Data. Then, click Yes, Delete in the confirmation pop-up that appears to delete all specifications and uploaded measurement data for the product.
