Evaluating Product Specification Compliance

After you define a product and upload measurement data, use the Compliance view to compare the data against the specifications. You can filter the Compliance view by specification status and alter Cpk parameter values to define specification status thresholds.

  • Upload product specifications on the Spec view.
  • Upload measurement data on the Measurement view.
  • Open the Compliance view.
  1. Select the specification category from the category menu. The specifications within the category will appear in the main window on the Compliance view.
Tip If the category menu is hidden, click View Categories in the top-left corner of the Compliance view to display the menu.
  2. Click Hide Columns and select the information to display on the Compliance view. Click the icon to the left of the column name to toggle the visibility of the column.
Tip Column visibility settings are unique for each specification category and for each Specification Compliance Manager user. The Hide Columns menu includes a search bar to filter the available options.
  3. Click the Settings button in the top-right corner of the Compliance view to set parameters for specification status indicators.
    1. Enter the Minimum Units for Gaussian Calculation value on the General tab of the Compliance Settings window.
Tip You can define the Decimal value precision for Compliance values to round the Compliance values to a specific precision in the selected product for all users. This defined precision applies to all locations that display the Compliance values, and it does not alter the actual values.
    2. Open a discipline tab and set the Cpk thresholds for warnings and failures, as well as the coverage percentage for failures. You can also add a coverage rule for the warning status and select whether to highlight warnings and failures in the interface.
    3. If needed, open the Condition Mapping tab for the discipline and set condition mapping rules for specifications and measurement data conditions.
    4. Click Back to all settings.
    5. Repeat for each discipline as needed.
    6. Click Save & Close.
  4. Click the More Options menu (1378), next to the Settings button, and then click Download Compliance Report to download a compliance report spreadsheet that contains the information on the Compliance view.
    1. In the Download Compliance Report dialog, enter a file name and choose the disciplines and categories to include and exclude.
    2. Select a report format from the Select report format drop-down menu.
Note Only the system administrator can update the user-defined report format options. Refer to the User-Defined Report Generator Setup section in NI Specification Compliance Manager Operations Handbook for information about how to set up and configure the server.
    3. Optional: If you select a user-defined format, enter additional information about the generated report in the Additional Notes.
  5. Select the Passed, Warning, Failed, Without Data, and Statistics with Error filter options to display subsets of product specifications and data for analysis.
Note Specification Compliance Manager displays a warning symbol on the Settings button if there are unmapped specification conditions in the measurement data. Refer to Configuring Condition Mapping Rules for instructions to apply condition mapping.
  • To update information on the Compliance view, click Refresh (1378). The timestamp next to the refresh button indicates the previous specification update.
  • To download data from the Compliance view as a CSV file, select a specification row(s), click Download Measurements, select the disciplines to download, enter a file name, and click Download. The progress bar displays the status of the download.
