Product Comparison View

The Product Comparison view displays specifications for two products that you select as well as compliance data for the discipline that you select for each product. You can use this view to compare between two different products or to compare between measurement disciplines for the currently selected product.

Note Only parametric specification categories and the relevant compliance data appear on the Product Comparison view.

Select a category from the Parametric Categories menu to display a comparison table for all specifications that the category contains. The table generates a row for each SpecID and shows the relevant data for each product. This table also includes a Delta section at the end that calculates the difference between the Min, Max, and Median data points for the selected products and disciplines.

Tip You can use the menu in the top-right corner of the Product Comparison view to download a delta comparison spreadsheet. Refer to Downloading Delta Comparison Spreadsheets for more information.

To reduce load times when switching between specification categories, Specification Compliance Manager (SCM) caches the data that is displayed on the Product Comparison view in application memory when you first open the category. After that point, the Product Comparison view will display the cached data. A banner will appear at the top of the view to notify you if the data on display is from the cache. Click the Click Here button within the banner to refresh the view with the latest data from the SCM server.

Note Table cell highlights might take time to load. If needed, SCM will display a banner notification while the table cell highlights load.

SCM highlights the cells in the Δ Min and Δ Max columns to indicate when the combination of conditions that produced the worst-case values are different for both products. You can click on a cell in one of these columns to open the Worst-Case Condition window. This window displays conditions and compliance parameters for the relevant data points. Refer to Worst-Case Condition Window Overview for more information about this window.

Tip Use the Show/Hide Columns button to filter the columns that are visible on the Product Comparison view. These visibility settings do not persist if you switch tabs or close the view.

Worst-Case Condition Window Overview

To open the Worst-Case Condition window, click on a cell in either the Δ Min or Δ Max column on the Product Comparison view.

This window has two tabs: Min Conditions and Max Conditions. These tabs include a table for each selected product that includes compliance conditions and the following parameters for each data entry.

  • Samples
  • Min
  • Max
  • Mean
  • Median
  • Standard Deviation
  • Cpk
  • % Spec Range Used

The column names in the Conditions section of the table match the condition names in the product specification file. The unit of measure in these columns also corresponds to the product specification file.

Tip Use the Show/Hide Columns button to filter the columns that are visible on the Product Comparison view. These visibility settings do not persist if you switch tabs or close the view.

If no worst-case conditions are present, the window displays a message to explain the reason for the lack of conditions. Refer to the following table for possible scenarios and display messages.
