Replacing the N6700C Mainframe

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • T10 torx screwdriver
  1. Power off the ECUTS.
  2. Open the rear cabinet door.
  3. Disconnect the Ethernet jack from the rear of the N6700C.
  4. Disconnect the AC power cable from the rear of the N6700C.
  5. Disconnect the inhibit connector from the rear of the N6700C.
  6. Disconnect the power and sense connectors from the rear of each module in the N6700C.
  7. Using the flathead screwdriver, turn the quarter-turn locks and remove the left and right side panels from the test rack.
  8. On each side of the rack, disconnect the single screw and nut combination fixing the rear rail of the N6700C to the rear rack mount ear.
    Notice To prevent damage to other ECUTS components, take care to ensure the nut loosened in this step does not fall into the test rack.
  9. Remove the screws securing the front rack mount ears of the N6700C to the test rack.
  10. Slide the N6700C out of the front of the test rack.
  11. Remove the rear test rack mount brackets from the N7600C.
  12. Attach the rear test rack mount brackets to the replacement N6700C.
  13. Refer to Replacing the N67xxA Modules to transfer or replace power supplies and electronic loads in the new N6700C.
  14. Slide the N6700C into the front of the test rack.
  15. Screw in the screws securing the front rack mount ears to the test rack rails.
  16. Screw in screws securing the rear supports to the test rack.
  17. Connect the power and sense connectors to the rear of each module in the replacement N7600C.
  18. Connect the inhibit connector to the rear of the N6700C.
  19. Connect the AC power cable to the rear of the N6700C.
  20. Seat the left and right panels back in the test rack and turn the quarter-turn locks using the flathead screwdriver.
  21. Close the rear cabinet door.
  22. Power on the ECUTS.
Configuration Steps
  1. Select States\Reset on the N6700C front panel to reset to default factory settings.
  2. Set up network connectivity.
    1. Select System\IO\LAN\Modify\Services on the front panel menu of N6700C.
    2. Select all services and verify HiSLIP is checked.
    3. Select System\IO\LAN\Modify\IP on the front panel menu of the N6700C and select Manual.
    4. Configure the N6700C IP address.
      Note IP addresses for the N6700C are assigned sequentially in order from the bottom of the test rack (169.254.160.41) to the top (169.254.160.44).
    5. Verify Subnet mask reads 255.255.0.0. 
    6. Set the Def gateway to 0.0.0.0.
    7. Select System\IO\LAN\Apply to apply any LAN setting changes.
    8. If prompted, reboot the N6700C mainframe.
  3. Verify the N6700C is added to NI MAX.
    1. Sign in the ECUTS-16000.
    2. Launch NI MAX and navigate to My System » Devices and Interfaces » Network Devices.
    3. If the N6700C does not appear, click the Refresh button.
