This section describes features of the NI-VCOM Toolkit, including transmission modes, end-to-end communication, secure onboard communication, signal splitting, and network management.

Transmission Modes
NI-VCOM restbus simulation supports different transmission modes. The AUTOSAR files already define the supported transmission modes. However, you must perform additional configuration using the RBSConfig Tool if you use .dbc or .ldf files.
End-to-End Communication Protection
The End-to-End (E2E) protection mechanism protects the safety-related data exchange at run time against the effects of faults within the communication link. The E2E communication protection mechanisms enables the detection and handling of faults in the communication link at run time.
Secure Onboard Communication
Secure Onboard Communication provides a feature to verify the authenticity and freshness of PDUs. Only PDUs of type Secured are relevant for this feature.
Signal Splitting
Splitting signals lets you work with signal partitions independently.
Network Management
Network management (NM) controls ECU transitions between Bus Sleep Mode and Network Mode based on AUTOSAR specifications.
Custom Device Features
Some custom device features are only available on the NI-VCOM Toolkit for VeriStand.
Installing and Using the VCOM Custom Device API
The NI:VCOM Custom Device API allows you to programmatically create an instance of the add-on from a previously exported configuration.
Configuration Tool
Use the Configuration Tool to configure a variety of function modules through an XML file.
Bus Monitor
Use the Bus Monitor to view, analyze, and log CAN, LIN, and Ethernet data that streams through NI-VCOM.
