Package and Section Information

This is where you enter package and section information during component creation.
If you are creating a PLD component, only Number of pins is active in this step. The PLD feature is found in education-specific edtions of Multisim.
Refer to the table below as needed:

| Select a package |
Displays the Select a Package dialog box. Select the desired Database name, scroll down the Data list, select the desired Package and click Select to close the dialog. Package manufacturer and Package type reflect your selection. |

This is automatically completed when you use Select a package. You can also enter values directly into this field. If you enter a value that does not exist in the database, you will be prompted to confirm that you wish to add the information to a new package. If you select Yes, the Add a Package dialog box displays. |
| Package type |
This is automatically completed when you use Select a package. You can also enter values directly into this field. If you enter a value that does not exist in the database, you will be prompted to confirm that you wish to add the information to a new package. | Single section component | Creates a component with one section. |
| Multi-section component |
If you select this, Number of sections, Total number of pins and Section details are added to the dialog. Complete these as required. You can create a multi-section component with up to 96 sections. |
| Number of sections |
The number of sections in the component. Enter as required. This is only visible when Multi-section component is selected. |
| Total number of pins |
This changes to reflect your selections in Number sections, and Section details. This is only visible when Multi-section component is selected. |
| Section details |
A, B, and so on—These tabs represent the section names. You can edit these using Name. The number of tabs corresponds to the Number of sections. This is only visible when Multi-section component is selected. Click on a section tab and edit the following as needed: Name—The section name. This defaults to the tab name, but can be edited. This is only visible when Multi-section component is selected. Number of pins—Enter as required for the selected section. This does not have to match the number of pins in the selected package. For single section components, this field appears by itself. |
