Complete the following steps to modify or enter package information:

  1. Click the Add From database button in the Package tab of the Component Properties dialog box.

The Select a Package dialog box appears:

    • Database name list—The database the packages are in.
    • Data list—Shows the packages in the selected database.

When you create or edit a component with a custom footprint (land pattern) in Ultiboard, the change is automatically synchronized in Multisim. This appears in the preview field and the Package column (if the package name is changed) of the Select a Package dialog box. If the database containing the component is already open in the Select a Package dialog box in Multisim when you create or edit the component in Ultiboard, you must select a different database and then reselect the original database to view the change.

    • Filter button—Use to filter the contents of the Data list.
    • Add button—Use to add a package to the User or Corporate Database.
    • Delete button—Use to delete a package from the Corporate or User Database.
    • Copy to button—Use to copy a package from one database to another.
    • Link info button—Displays a list of components with the selected package through the Component List dialog box.

Manufacturer, Package and Ultiboard footprint fields with information for the selected component appear beside the preview. These are for information only.

  2. Select the Database name where the package is that you want to edit.
  3. If the package is in the Master Database or an installed manufacturer database, select the package in the Data List and click the Copy To button. The Set Parameters dialog box appears prompting you to place it in the Corporate Database or User Database.
  4. Click OK.

The package is copied to the database you indicated and you are returned to the Select a Package dialog box.

  5. Click the field of the package you want to modify.
  6. Enter the appropriate information.

Once a package is modified, you will be prompted to save it with the modifications. If you choose not to save, the modifications will be lost.

  7. Click the Save button. The modifications are saved.

Mapping Symbol to Package Pins

Complete the following steps to map symbol and package pins:

  1. Navigate to the Package tab of the Component Properties dialog box.
  2. Select the package you wish to make modifications to in the Package manufacturer\type box.
  3. In the Symbol pin to package pin mapping table, for each Symbol pin:
    • Select its corresponding package pin from the drop-down list in the Package pins column, using information from the component's datasheet.
    • Select its pin swap group from the drop-down list in the Pin swap group column. Pins in the same pin swap group can be interchanged during the PCB layout process.
    • Select its gate swap group from the drop-down list in the Gate swap group column. Gates in the same gate swap group can be interchanged during the PCB layout process.
