This section describes how to set up the electrical rules used when running an Electrical Rules Check.

Complete the following steps to set up the electrical rules:

  1. Select Tools»Electrical rules check to display the Electrical Rules Check dialog box and click on the ERC rules tab.
  2. Set the desired warning or error levels by clicking on the button that appears at the intersection of the desired pin types in the grid found in the Definition box. Click until the desired color, based on the Legend appears.

    An example is shown in the figure below.

    The ERC symbols (1) are shown in the Definition box.

    The red button (2) indicates an error for connection of NC (no connection) to Bi (bidirectional) pins.

    The warning and error levels are shown in the Legend box (3).

    The green button (4) indicates OK for the connection of Pwr (power) to Pwr pins.

The table below lists the various pin types in Multisim and their associated ERC symbols.

The Pin Type can be viewed in the Component Pins tab of component properties dialogs, or changed in the Pin parameters tab of the Component Properties dialog box.
