Use the Advanced Pin Mapping dialog box to map symbol pins to package pins. This dialog is especially useful for more complex devices.
The example below shows the pin mapping for an LM3301N, Quad High Gain Norton opamp.
Refer to the table below the diagram for information.
The contents of the dialog box are described below:
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Tab |
All—Shows all pins in the component. A, B, C & D—Show pins from individual sections. COM—Shows pins common to all sections. Although rarer, there is also the possibility for GROUND, Not_Connected, and POWER_* sections. See MC68HC1D3CFN1 for an example. The sections are specifically for hidden pins (a special case of COM pins). The exact tabs that display depend on the component. There are no tabs for single section components. |
| Table |
Symbol pin name—The names of the component's symbol pins, as found in the Package tab of the Component Properties dialog box, the Set pin parameters step of the Component Wizard, or the Edit Package dialog box. Package pins—The pins on the component package. The package pins are used in PCB layout. The symbol and package pins must accurately map to transfer correctly to PCB layout. Type—For information only. Does not appear when Symbol pin names are viewed in the preview area (using Switch view). Section—The section name of a multi-section component. This column does not appear for single-section components, and does not appear when Symbol pin names are viewed in the preview area (using Switch view). |
| Preview area |
A list of the package pins appears here. If you click Switch view, this area shows a list of the component's symbol pins. Select a pin here to highlight it in the mapping table (or vice versa). Black text—Indicates that the package pin has been mapped to a symbol pin. Red text—Indicates a mapping duplication. Blue text—Indicates an unmapped package pin. |
| Buttons |
Switch view—Changes the view so that the symbol pins appear in the preview, and any tabs appear on the right of the dialog box. Clear map—Unmaps all of the mapped pins. Auto-assign—Assigns symbol pins to Package pins in the order in which the Symbol pin names appear. |
