FlexLogger displays the synchronization status of your system on the toolbar, helping you troubleshoot synchronization issues based on the status of your system.

Introduced in FlexLogger 2019 R2

This feature is only available as part of a complete FlexLogger license. Refer to FlexLogger Editions for more information.

FlexLogger supports network and PXIe synchronization for compatible devices. If your system does not require or support synchronization, you can disable this feature by going to File » Preferences and unchecking Enable multi-chassis and network synchronization on the General tab.

The following image shows the location of the SYNC LED on the toolbar. The SYNC LED is visible when your system has more than one chassis or device. The SYNC LED color changes depending on the synchronization status of your system.

Refer to the following table to determine the synchronization status of your system and to determine how to resolve any synchronization errors.
Table 28. SYNC Status
SYNC Status Meaning Troubleshooting Tips
No SYNC status in toolbar Your system has only one chassis or device. -
Red Not all devices are synchronized. Click SYNC to
  • Display which supported devices in your system are synchronized.
  • Display which devices don't support synchronization.
Your system meets synchronization conditions, but errors exist with the device or network setup. Verify that none of the following issues are present in your system:
  • The IEEE 802.1AS or 1588 subnet does not support the external switch used in the network configuration. (Network sync)
  • Devices are connected on the network in more than one subnet. (Network sync)
  • The HDMI cables are connected to the incorrect "In" and "Out" ports. See your chassis manual for more information. (PXIe sync)
  • Your device does not support synchronization.
  • Your project displays a supported device with configured channels but the device is not present in the system.
Grey Synchronization is disabled in Preferences. Ensure that you enabled Enable multi-chassis and network synchronization at File » Preferences.
You did not correctly configure your project for synchronization.
  • Ensure that at least two chassis or devices support synchronization.
  • Ensure you have one or more channels configured in at least two of the synchronization-supported devices. Devices without configured channels are not included.
Yellow Multiple synchronization groups detected. Devices in the same sync group are synchronized. Devices on the network are connected in more than one subnet, or are separated by a network switch that does not support 802.1AS. This is expected behavior if your network meets one of the following conditions:
  • You have multiple sync groups on different subnets.
  • You have both a PXI sync group and a TSN sync group.
Green Synchronization is enabled and the device configuration is supported, but unavailable devices have one or more channels configured for synchronization. Verify your hardware configuration has all devices available.
Synchronization is enabled and the device configuration is supported.
