Components of a Ettus USRP B310 System

Ettus USRP B310 is designed for use in a system that might require hardware, drivers, and software to optimize Ettus USRP B310 for your application.

Note A system and the surrounding environment must meet any requirements defined in the relevant specifications documents.

Minimum Required System Components

Use the minimum required Ettus USRP B310 system components as a starting point for building your system.

Table 2. Ettus USRP B310 Minimum Required System Components
Component Description
Ettus USRP module Ettus USRPs provide RF signal generation and acquisition, device‑level processing, timing and synchronization resources, and high‑speed data interfaces for software‑defined radio applications.
Host PC
Icon representing a desktop computer tower.

A host computer runs control software and processes streamed data. Host performance requirements depend on sample rate, bandwidth, FPGA image, and application workload.

For the PCIe variants, the host PC must support at least PCIe Gen 2x4. For USRP B310 (Enclosed) variant, the host must be Thunderbolt™ 3 or later. NI recommends using Thunderbolt™ 5.

USRP Hardware Driver™
Icon representing application software represented by a document and gear symbol.

Driver software runs on the host PC and provides the APIs, tools, and drivers required to configure the Ettus USRP B310, control operation, and stream RF data. The Ettus USRP B310 requires UHD 4.11 or later.
USRP B310 (Enclosed) power supply
Icon representing an external power supply unit.
The provided USB-C Power Delivery power supply delivers regulated power required to operate the USRP B310 (Enclosed).
