To configure volume license server settings, select Tools » Preferences. You can configure the following settings:

Configuring General Settings
Configure the General settings to determine volume license server start-up state, NI VLM server ports, administrator contact information, backup location, group settings, permission request settings, and VLA Log settings.
Setting Overdraft Policies
Select whether you want to enable overdraft in order to add new seats to your volume license agreement automatically and pay for them later. You can also specify the amount of overdraft and set pay-as-you-go.
Configuring Email Server Settings
Enable the ability to send email from within NI VLM through an SMTP server on which you have an account. NI VLM uses the email server for features such as administrator notifications, emailing disconnected or home licenses to clients, and emailing clients when permission requests are handled.
Enabling Administrator Notifications
Enable or disable administrator notifications, such as notifications for waiting permission requests, agreement renewal alerts, and expiring disconnected or home licenses.
Configuring Custom Fields
Use custom fields to store detailed information about clients as needed. These fields automatically appear and can be edited wherever applicable, including in areas such as users, computers, groups, permissions, reports, and more.
Selecting the Volume License Agreement Policies
Configure Volume License Agreement (VLA) policies to manage client permissions for using NI Update Service, sending error reports, and participating in the Customer Experience Improvement Program. These settings allow you to customize client access and data sharing preferences based on organizational requirements.
