Finding Data with Quick Search

Use Quick Search to find search terms in the file properties of a DataFinder instance. Perform a quick search if you only have partial search information or if you are unsure whether the information is in a file, channel group, or channel.

In Data Navigation, select the DataFinder or the
Federation instance you want to search with and click .
Note To search in the search areas of a DataFinder or Federation instance, the instance requires web access. An authorized user can enable web access in Data Indexing. To enable web access, select the instance, click . Then click
ConnectRemote
Access, and on the Web Access tab
enable Allow access to DataFinder through web
connections. - If the toggle is set to Advanced Search (right), click the toggle to disable Advanced Search (left).

Enter a search term in the search input box.
Goal Solution Find multiple search terms Separate multiple search terms with spaces. Use wildcards to find parts of search terms Find parts of search terms with wildcards (* and ?). You can only use wildcards at the end of a search term, for example, exa*. Find numeric values Use Advanced Search. Quick Search always interprets search terms as text. For example, if you enter the search term 100, Data Navigation searches for the text 100 and not for the numeric value 100. Find search terms containing special characters Use Advanced Search. Quick Search replaces the special characters in a search term with spaces. Note Quick Search is case-insensitive. -
Click
Search.
The latest search results will replace those from the previous search.
