G Web Development Software Prior Version Compatibility Feature

G Web Development Prior Version Compatibility Feature

G Web Development Software 2022 Q3 and earlier stored binary data, such as the default value of array controls and the value of array constants, in the VIs, but it used an insecure method to read that binary data.

In G Web Development Software 2022 Q3 Patch 2 and later, you can use the Load binary data stored in VIs option, available in the Prior Versions category on the Preferences dialog box, to enable or disable loading binary data stored in VIs.

NI recommends that you enable this option only when you are loading VIs from trusted sources. If you don’t enable this option, G Web Development Software will fail to open VIs that contain the binary data.

If you need to use VIs that fail to open because they contain binary data, you can temporarily enable the option, reload any open projects, and use File » Save All to File » Save All to update the VIs. G Web Development Software 2022 Q3 Patch 2 will save the data in text format instead of binary. You can then disable the option.

If your project uses an add-on that stores binary data in VIs, you will need to get an updated version of the add-on that saves the data as text.
