Moving Objects

Move objects that you select on the LabVIEW front panel or block diagram with the Positioning tool, drag actions, or, for precise placement, the arrow keys.
To move an object, complete the following steps.
- Use the Positioning tool to select the object.

Drag the object to a new location.
Tip The Positioning tool also resizes objects. To avoid resizing an object, place the cursor in the center of the object to move it. Click the corners of an object to resize it.
You can restrict the direction and increments of movement using the following methods:
Option Description Restrict the direction of movement horizontally or vertically Press Shift and drag an object. Movement is restricted to the direction you first move the object.
Move selected objects in small, precise increments - Single pixel: Press the appropriate arrow key once for each pixel you want to move the objects. Hold the arrow key to repeat the action.
- Several pixels (alignment grid disabled): Press Shift along with an arrow key.
- Single grid unit, alignment grid enabled:
Press Shift along with an arrow key.
If the object is not aligned with the grid initially, the first Shift arrow press aligns the object with the grid.

If you dragged to move the object, accept or cancel the move.
- Accept: Release the mouse button.
- Cancel: Press Esc and release the mouse button. The object remains in its original location.
To align objects along axes after you place the objects, do either of the following:
- Use the Align Objects pull-down menu (
