Arranging Objects on the Front Panel and Block Diagram

Position, group, and lay out objects on the LabVIEW front panel or block diagram. Create a clean user interface or an organized diagram for a VI.

Selecting Objects
Select front panel or block diagram objects in LabVIEW for editing tasks such as moving, copying, or deleting.
Moving Objects
Move objects that you select on the LabVIEW front panel or block diagram with the Positioning tool, drag actions, or, for precise placement, the arrow keys.
Resizing Objects
You can resize objects on the front panel of a VI interactively.
Scaling Front Panel Objects
Objects on the front panel can scale, or automatically resize, in relation to the size of the pane that contains them.

Copy and paste objects in LabVIEW in two ways: copy and paste the object or clone the object.

Evenly space selected front panel or block diagram objects with Distribute Objects.
Grouping and Locking Objects
Group objects to maintain their relative arrangement and size when you use the Positioning tool to move and resize them. Lock front panel objects to prevent them from being moved, resized, or deleted.
Reordering Objects
Placing a label or any other object over a control or indicator, or partially covering a control or indicator, slows down screen updates and can make the control or indicator flicker. To avoid these issues in the user interface of your VI, reorder the objects.
Aligning Objects
Apply an alignment setting to objects that are already present on the front panel or the block diagram in LabVIEW. Use the alignment grid to restrict the placement of objects to a grid as you are placing them.
Deleting Objects
Remove front panel or block diagram objects in LabVIEW, including splitter bars, using menu commands, keyboard keys, or shortcut menu options.
Adding or Reducing Space on the Front Panel or Block Diagram
Add or reduce workspace on the LabVIEW front panel or block diagram without needing to resize the window. Based on where you click, you can move various sets of objects simultaneously.
