Note

You must maintain adequate clearance between the TS-15000 and surrounding equipment or blockages to ensure proper cooling for the backplane, power supply and modules installed into the backplane. Refer to the Thermal Considerations topic for cooling requirements. Failure to provide these clearances may result in thermal-related failures in the backplane or modules.

The TS-15000 allows for three connectivity options:

  • Direct mount—This option allows for direct mounting of the TS-15000 to DUT connectors and directly connects to the test fixture PCB. Direct mounting offers a smaller form factor and makes it easier to establish higher volume deployments with fewer parts, a cleaner setup, and fewer cables. This mounting option does require a custom PCB designed to align to the TS-15000 connector distribution.
  • Bottom mount —This option allows for mounting the TS-15000 to power and USB connectors while also allowing for the use of standard I/O cabling. Bottom mounting offers cleaner system connections while also offering faster setup to testing and adaptable connections with accessible I/O cabling.
  • Side mount—This option allows for the use of standard I/O cabling, offering more flexibility, faster setup to testing, and adaptable connections with cabling. Side mounting does require more space to accommodate cabling.

Direct Mounting the TS-15000 to Your Custom Interface Board

Complete the Assembling the TS-15000 for Direct-Mounting procedure to assemble your TestScale system and directly mount it to your custom interface board.

Bottom Mounting the TS-15000 to Your Custom Interface Board

Complete the Assembling the TS-15000 for Side- and Bottom-Mounting procedure to assemble your TestScale system.

Seven tabs are located on the rear panel of the TS-15000 for mounting it to the fixture.

  1. Align the rear power and USB backplane connectors with their corresponding power and USB connections on the connector interface board.
  2. Insert M4 screws into the mounting holes on the rear panel tabs to affix the TestScale assembly to the connector interface board.
    Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.

Side Mounting the TS-15000 to Your Custom Board

Complete the Assembling the TS-15000 for Side- and Bottom-Mounting procedure to assemble your TestScale system.

The side-mount option of the TS-15000 ships with two side-mount panels for attaching it to the fixture.

  1. Align the mounting holes on the side mount panels to either the corresponding top or bottom mounting holes on the assembly side panels, depending on the desired orientation of the assembly.
  2. Insert and tighten screws to fasten the side mount panels to the assembly side panels.
    Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.
