Assembling the TS-15000 for Side- and
Bottom-Mounting
This procedure walks you through assembling the TestScale components for the TS-15000 side-mount and bottom-mount options,
including the backplane, core module, and I/O modules.
Note Refer to your backplane Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory
Information document for environmental guidelines, electromagnetic
compatibility notices, safety requirements, and additional information.
Attaching the Front Panel
Before affixing the front panel, note each module position. The core module must always be
positioned in the top left slot (Core Slot/slot C). Serial number labels are provided in the
module kits to identify modules on the cable or the assembly. Refer to the Positioning Your TestScale Modules topic for additional
information.
Align the front panel with the module connectors.
Insert and tighten the standoffs into the corresponding mounting holes on the modules
to fasten the front panel to the module configuration.
Note Tighten the standoffs to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.
Align the mounting holes of the side panels to the corresponding mounting holes
on each outer edge of the front panel.
Insert and tighten the screws to fasten the side panels to the front
panel.
Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.
Side Panel (x2)
Screws; M3 x 0.5 x 4 mm Flat (x4)
Attaching the Backplane
Fasten the Standoffs to the Backplane
Align the standoffs and provided screws to the designated holes on the
backplane.
Insert and tighten the screws to affix the standoffs to the rear of the
backplane.
Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N ·
m (5.0 lb · in) of
torque.
Screws; SS, Pan Head Phillips, M3 x 0.5, 4 mm (x3)
Backplane
Standoffs; M3 x 6 mm, F/F (x3)
Affix the Backplane to the Modules
Align and affix the module connectors to their corresponding backplane
connectors.

Module Assembly
Attach the Backplane
Align the mounting holes on the side panels with the mounting holes on the
backplane.
Insert and tighten the provided standoffs to fasten the backplane to the fixture
side panels.
Note Tighten the standoffs to 0.60 N ·
m (5.0 lb · in) of
torque.
Standoffs; M3 x 6 mm, M/F (x4)
Backplane
Attaching the Rear Panel
Notice Some components on the backplane, i.e. the shielded power inductor
(shown in the following figure) have minimal clearances and can be damaged during
assembly. Take care when attaching the rear panel to the backplane to not bend,
slide, or otherwise damage components on the backplane.
Align the mounting holes on the rear panel with the standoffs on the
backplane.
Insert and tighten the provided screws to fasten the rear panel to the
fixture.
Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.
Screws; M3 x 0.5 x 4 mm Flat (x7)
Rear Panel
Note Rear panel depicted is for the bottom mounting option. Rear panel for the side
mounting option does not have tabs.
Attaching the Support Panels
Attach the Top Support Panel
Align the top support panel mounting holes with the corresponding mounting holes
on the top tabs of the rear and front panels.
Insert and tighten the screws to fasten the top support panel to the rear and
front panels.
Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N ·
m (5.0 lb · in) of
torque.
Top Support Panel
Screws; M3 x 0.5 x 4 mm Flat (x4)
Front/Rear Panel Mounting Holes (x4)
Attach the Bottom Support Panel
Align the bottom support panel mounting holes with the corresponding mounting
holes on the bottom tabs of the rear and front panels.
Insert and tighten the screws to fasten the bottom support panel to the rear and
front panels.
Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N ·
