Using the Register Map Conversion Utility

The register map conversion utility uses a specified device register map to create a register map file that is compatible with the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On.

You must create a device register map before you use the register map conversion utility. The Semiconductor Device Control Add-On installer includes a template file for each map. Refer to the Device Register Map Template section for more information about each template file, including structure and format requirements.

Complete the following steps to create a register map file using the register map conversion utility.

  1. Launch the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On and open a large panel.
  2. Click Edit Setup to open the Custom Setup dialog box.
  3. Click Create New Register Map to launch the register map conversion utility.
  4. Select the device register map to use for the conversion.
  5. Select the location to save the new register map file, or select an existing register map file to overwrite.
  6. Enter the register name for the new register map file.
Tip If you are overwriting an existing register map file, the file metadata appears in the conversion utility. You can edit this information if needed.
  7. Click Start Conversion.

During the conversion process, the Conversion Status window displays the progress of the register map conversion utility. If an error occurs during this process, the Conversion Status window provides error information you can use for debugging purposes.

After the conversion is complete, the utility generates a register map file that you can use to create and customize device control setups in the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On.
