Download the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On for InstrumentStudio installer at ni.com/downloads. NI software includes NI Package Manager to handle the installation. Refer to the NI Package Manager Documentation for more information about installing, removing, and upgrading NI software using Package Manager.

Note If Windows Update is enabled, the installation process might hang if Windows Update interferes with the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Run-Time. Visit ni.com/r/exjq43 for more information and steps to resolve this issue.
Note Before starting the installation, close all running Visual Studio and VSIX files. If these files are running when the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On is being installed, some Visual Studio templates in the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On might not install properly.
Note Use the serial number that is included with your software to activate the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On for InstrumentStudio. For more information on Semiconductor Device Control Add-On for InstrumentStudio activation, refer to NI Software Activation.

Additional Installation Requirements for the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On Professional Edition

The Semiconductor Device Control Add-On Professional for InstrumentStudio has the following additional installation requirements:

  • To develop a custom interface or protocol, you must install Visual Studio before installing the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On Professional for InstrumentStudio.
  • To develop a PXIe-657x protocol, you must install the NI-Digital Pattern Driver before installing the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On Professional for InstrumentStudio.

After installing the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On Professional for InstrumentStudio, you must activate the Semiconductor Device Control Add-On Professional for InstrumentStudio with a valid license. You can verify the installation of the VSIX extensions in the following location: %LocalAppData%\Temp\dd VSIXInstaller*.log.
