NI Nigel™ AI

NI Nigel AI is an AI which brings a wealth of knowledge about PAtools into your design process. Nigel can explain key PAtools concepts to help you create PAtools tests. Nigel is powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI.

Nigel can help you while you are working in PAtools by performing tasks such as:

• Explaining key PAtools concepts
• Summarizing documentation topics from online sources
• Opening other PAtools applications, such as PAcontroller
• Navigating plugins within PAconfigurator
• Describing local hardware and software characteristics
• Answering questions about hardware functionality and configuration

Note Nigel cannot find information contained in installed third-party software.

Installing Nigel

Nigel installs by default when you install PAtools. If you do not want to install Nigel, deselect Nigel Integration Module for PAtools when setting up your PAtools installation.

Accessing Nigel

Nigel is integrated into PAconfigurator, making it easy to open a chat window with Nigel using the following options:

• Click the Nigel AI tile from the PAconfigurator home screen.
• Click the Nigel AI icon from your current screen.

Note Nigel is only integrated into PAconfigurator. If you do not see Nigel in PAconfigurator, restart the user PC.

After you open Nigel, you must log in to your ni.com user account and ensure it is associated with an active PAtools license. Ensure the Software Suite Entitlements are active in your ni.com user account.

Note Nigel may respond to queries you make in English even if you ask in your local language.

Accessing Nigel Chat History

Nigel stores your chat history. Access your chat history using the Chat History button next to the Create New Chat button. You can rename, delete, and pin chats in the chat history to organize your chats and allow easy access to important questions.

Disabling Nigel

To disable Nigel features, uninstall Nigel Integration Module for PAtools.
