This step contains the following:

Component name

The description of the component, for example, 1N3494.

This field can only contain letters, numbers, and the following characters:
-+!@#$%^&()[]{}:
Author name Auto-completed by system, change if desired. Cannot be blank.
Function An optional description of the component.
Simulation and layout Select to create a component for simulation and PCB layout.
Simulation only Select to create a component for simulation only.
Layout only Select to create a component for PCB layout only.
Simulation and PLD export

Select to create a component for use in PLD schematics.

This topic refers to education-specific features of Multisim.
Component type

Select Analog or Digital. This does not appear if Layout only is selected.

If Simulation and PLD export is selected, this displays, with the value set to Digital. This cannot be changed. This feature is found in education-specific editions of Multisim.
Component technology

Appears if the selected Component type is Digital. Select the desired technology, for example, TIL.
