Time Averaging This section describes the averaging techniques that you can use in time-domain analysis.Exponential Averaging Exponential averaging is a continuous averaging process that weights current and past data differently. The amount of weight given to past data as compared to current data depends on the exponential time constant. In exponential averaging, the averaging process continues indefinitely.Delay Measurements The propagation delay is the interval between when a sample is generated on the output of your measurement device and when the corresponding sample is acquired on the input side. Quantifying the signal propagation delay is important in many applications involving stimulus and response testing. Level Measurements A level measurement provides a quantitative description of the overall vibration acquired from a transducer. You can perform sound level and vibration level measurements with time-domain or even-angle signals.
