ETX-1640x System Power Dissipation Ratings

The following graph provides guidance of the typical temperature rise above ambient temperature for a given system at a given power level. Temperatures in your rack may exceed temperatures predicted by this graph.

Ensure all equipment integrated into the system is certified for an ambient temperature of the system intake plus this temperature rise. You may interpolate the values in this graph.

Notice The total power dissipation of equipment in the ETX-16400/16401 should never exceed 11 kW to prevent damage to rack hardware.

Note This figure includes power sourced by the RMX-4104x as if it were dissipated inside the system.
  • Temperature rise—The difference between the average fan exhaust temperature and the ambient air intake temperature.
  • Power dissipation—The total power dissipated inside the rack, including equipment and rack infrastructure components. The power dissipated inside the rack by these components as configured in ETX-16400/16401 systems should not exceed the value in the following table. This value counts against the total power budget for the system as determined in the Thermal Performance, Typical graph and the available power supplied by the PEP. The ETX-16400/16401 system contains power supplies intended to source power to devices outside the rack, such as the RMX-41041. When these devices draw power from outside the rack, the power—adjusted for the device's efficiency—does not impact the thermal budget outlined in the Thermal Performance, Typical graph. However, it does contribute to the system's sourced power budget.
