Restoring the ECUTS to the Factory Image
- If your ECUTS-16000 includes Acronis, utilize Acronis True Image OEM to create a backup image for your ECUTS-16000 and restore from a created image if necessary.
- If your ECUTS-16000 does not include Acronis, refer to Reinstalling Windows on an ECU Test System on ni.com.
Creating a Backup Image Using Acronis
Note When you launch Acronis True Image OEM for the first time, the software prompts
you to upgrade to the full version to enable features such as network backups and
incremental backups. These features are optional and not supported by NI.
- Select Start»All Programs»Acronis»Acronis True Image OEM to launch the Acronis True Image OEM application.
- Click Yes when prompted to allow Acronis True Image OEM to make changes to your device.

Select BACKUP from the left-hand menu to display the
backup options pane.
If Acronis True Image OEM does not automatically create a new backup, click Add Backup.
- Click the drop-down arrow next to the new backup to rename the backup.
- Click Select source.
- Select Entire PC.
- Click Select a destination to select where the backup image utility is saved.
- Click Back up now to save the new backup utility image.
Restoring to the Factory Image Using Acronis
- Restart the PXI controller.
- Press <F4> when prompted to interrupt start up and launch Acronis True Image OEM.
- Select Recover to reimage the ECUTS with the factory image.
Post-Reimaging Setup Tasks
- Apply all available Windows updates to the system.
- Refer to Configuring the PXI Controller to appropriately configure the secondary IP address of the ECUTS-16000 PXI controller.

If your system includes a PXIe-8430/8 serial instrument control module,
re-enumerate the serial port names to ensure that they correspond to the
appropriate port.
- Open Windows Device Manager.

Expand the Ports (COM and LPT) drop-down menu. The
serial ports from your PXIe-8430/8 are
located here, and should be mapped to the following port numbers:

- Click the Advanced button on the Properties window to open the Advanced Settings window.

Assign the port number which corresponds to the port name to the port
using the Port Number combo box.
Note You cannot assign the same port number to two ports simultaneously. If another port has already been assigned the port number you need to assign to the port you are editing, you need to change the port number of the port using your desired port number to a different, unused number to successfully assign the appropriate port number to the port you are editing.
- Click OK to close the Advanced Settings window.
- Click OK to close the Properties window.
- Select to refresh the Ports (COM and LPT) menu.
- Repeat steps c through h for each port associated with your PXIe-8430/8 with an incorrect port number.
- Once you have re-enumerated all PXIe-8430/8 COM ports in Device Manager, check NI MAX to ensure that all of the COM ports are displaying the correct port numbering.
- If your system includes RMX power supplies, refer to step 31 in Replacing RMX Power Supplies to add the power supplies to NI MAX.

If your system includes RMX electronic loads, refer to step 35 in
Replacing the RMX Electronic Load Devices to reconfigure your
electronic loads and manually add the devices in NI MAX.
Note If your RMX electronic loads appear registered in NI MAX following a reimage, you will still need to manually re-add the devices in NI MAX.

If your system includes PXIe-8523 Automotive Ethernet modules, disable the
automotive ethernet ports in the Windows Network and Sharing Center.
- Open the Network and Sharing Center by opening Windows Control Panel and clicking .
- Click Change Adapter Settings to open the Network Connections window, which lists all possible network connections for your system.
- For each Automotive Ethernet port listed on the Network Connections window, right-click the port and click Disable.
