Backing up NI Batch Installer Builder Data

Back up your data manually by completing the following steps:

  1. Close NI Batch Installer Builder.
  2. Navigate to the appropriate location on your hard drive: C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\BIB
  3. Save the following XML configuration files to another location:
    • Preferences.xml
    • BatchInstallerSpecifications.xml
    • SourceInstallerLibrary.xml

Restoring NI Batch Installer Builder Data from a Backup

Complete the following steps to restore NI Batch Installer Builder to an earlier set of data:

  1. Close NI Batch Installer Builder.
  2. Navigate to the NI Batch Installer Builder data file location: C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\BIB
  3. Move the existing XML files to a temporary location:
    • Preferences.xml
    • BatchInstallerSpecifications.xml
    • SourceInstallerLibrary.xml
  4. Copy the backup XML files you saved in Backing up NI Batch Installer Builder Data to the NI Batch Installer Builder data file location.
  5. Restart NI Batch Installer Builder.
Note Note  You must use the same version of all three files. Do not mix versions.

Recovering from Data Corruption

If NI Batch Installer Builder cannot load the original files when it launches, or if you want to undo changes you made since the last time you successfully opened NI Batch Installer Builder, you must manually rename the .backup files and relaunch NI Batch Installer Builder, as follows:

  1. Close NI Batch Installer Builder.
  2. Navigate to the NI Batch Installer Builder data file location: C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\BIB
  3. Move the original XML files to a temporary location:
    • Preferences.xml
    • BatchInstallerSpecifications.xml
    • SourceInstallerLibrary.xml
  4. Delete the .backup extension from the following backup files:
    • Preferences.xml.backup
    • BatchInstallerSpecifications.xml.backup
    • SourceInstallerLibrary.xml.backup
  5. Launch NI Batch Installer Builder.
Note Note  You must use the same version of all three files. Do not mix versions.
