Locking Labels and Captions

Lock the label or caption to front panel or block diagram objects to preserve label position when you move the object.
You can create custom user interfaces by moving labels and captions to different positions around the front panel object. You also can move terminal and wire labels on the block diagram.
After you move the label to the position you want, you can lock the label to the front panel or block diagram object. By locking the label to an object, you avoid losing the label position you select. When you move a locked label, the object also moves.
Locking Labels and Captions to an Object
Lock labels or captions to a specific front panel or block diagram object so the text stays aligned when you move it.
To lock a label or caption to a specific front panel or block diagram object, complete the following steps.
- Move the front panel or block diagram object to the position you want.
- Right-click the label of the control, indicator, or terminal and select Lock Label.
To unlock a label or caption later, repeat the process to remove the Lock Label checkmark in the shortcut menu.
You also can use the Lock property to lock a label programmatically.
Locking Labels and Captions Automatically
Lock labels or captions to any new control, indicator, or terminal that you add to the front panel or block diagram.
You can automatically lock labels and captions to front panel objects and block diagram objects independently.
To configure labels or captions to lock to new objects automatically, complete the following steps.

The Options dialog box appears.
- Select Front Panel and/or Block Diagram from the Category list.
- Place a checkmark in the Labels locked by default checkbox.
- Click OK to apply the changes and close the Options dialog box.

Add an object to the front panel or block diagram.
The label for the object is locked.
