# Course Errata for LabVIEW Real-Time Application Development Course

The following is a list of errata for the manual, slides, exercises, and solutions for the course.

Solution:
Lesson 2:
At the end of Exercise 2-2, you run the Blinking Light VI.  The lamp in the temperature chamber will blink correctly if Blink Rate (s) is set to 0.5 or higher.  However, if Blink Rate (s) is set to lower values, the lamp in the temperature chamber will not be able to keep up because it cannot turn on and off fast enough. To fix this, you can change the constant in the True Case in the While Loop from 0 to 1.  This allows the lamp to turn on and off more quickly because the lamp does not turn completely off.

Lesson 4:
In Exercise 4-1, you run the Sleep - Software Timing VI.  The lamp in the temperature chamber will blink correctly if Period (ms) is set to 1000 or higher.  However, if Period (ms) is set to lower values, the lamp in the temperature will not be able to keep up because it cannot turn on and off fast enough.  To fix this, you can change the constant in the True Case in the Timed Loop from 0 to 1.  This allows the lamp to turn on and off more quickly because the lamp does not turn completely off.

Lesson 5:
In Exercise 5-1, the header of the log file created in the Temperature Chamber Controller project displays Setpoint and Current Temperature with units of Fahrenheit, but the units should be Celsius.  You can fix this problem by editing  <Exercises>\LabVIEW Real-Time\Temperature Chamber Controller\Project Files\File IO subVIs\Create Header.vi and change the string constants to Setpoint (F) and Temp (F) to Setpoint(C) and Temp(C).

Lesson 7:
Exercise 7-1:
This course was written for LabVIEW Real-Time 8.6. If you are using LabVIEW Real-Time 2009, then for step 14, you should follow the instructions below instead: "Right-click the RT target in the Project Explorer and and select Disable Autodeploy Variables." This is slightly different from LabVIEW Real-Time 8.6.
Otherwise, when you run the Project Host VI, you may get the following error: "This VI is part of a Real-Time Startup Application.  All VIs on the target will be closed if you choose to apply and continue with deployment."

PXI Solutions:
The <Solutions>\PXI directory is missing the solution to Exercise 6-4.  Instead, use the solution in the <Solutions>\Exercise 6-4 directory because this solution will work for both PXI and cRIO.
