Log Accelerometer and Microphone Data to a PC

Test engineers and technicians need sound and vibration data to validate design usability, reliability, and quality. Drop; shaker table; sound pressure level (SPL); noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), and other tests help ensure that products withstand the rigor of the real world. Key requirements for measurement systems connected to accelerometers and microphones are:

  • Software tools that minimize configuration, setup, and automation efforts
  • Data file formats compatible with the most popular reporting tools, including Excel, Python, and MathWorks MATLAB® software
  • Analog input channel synchronization for sound and vibration analysis
  • Common sensor connectivity options like BNC, screw-terminal, and 10-32 coaxial jack
  • Quality measurement hardware for data confidence and test repeatability

Expandable 8-Channel Accelerometer and Microphone Data Acquisition System

  • FlexLogger™ application software for data logging manages sensor configuration, real-time data visualization, export to .csv files, and channel alarms, all without programming.
  • cDAQ-9174 chassis holds up to four C Series modules and connects to a PC or laptop over USB. (Ethernet chassis are available.)
  • Two NI-9234 sound and vibration input modules for eight input channels that sample at 51.2 kS/s/ch.
  • Two open slots for future expansion or higher channel-count systems.

Solution Advantages

“FlexLogger software makes it easier to troubleshoot and verify that the raw data from different sensors are correct before I start my test. This helps shorten test development by saving time typically wasted on redoing configurations.”
