However, the software will correctly show as activated in License Manager.

License Manager uses server's machine name instead of fully qualified domain nameThere may be difficulties getting licenses from the license server when the client machine only uses the server's machine name. In some instances, a fully qualified domain name may be needed in order to reach the server, but this is uncommon and in the majority of instances the server name suffices. Workaround: Contact NI to get a new VLM or Flex license file that uses the fully qualified domain name ([computer name].[primary DNS suffix]) or the IP address of the server as the server name in the license.

Batch activation does not show all activated productsIf you select only one product to activate, but if other products were also activated due to License Manager's batch activation algorithm, the Congratulations page does not list them all, but lists only the selected product. The Congratulations page says "1 ACTIVATED" when more than one product was activated.
Workaround: This is expected behavior, but is documented here in case of confusion.

Software relies on existing backup license even when there is a new secondary backup licenseIf a user has a backup license that is activated and a second backup license that has not yet been activated, software relies on the activated backup license. Usually, the active backup license has fewer remaining days; once the active backup license expires, the newer backup license activates and adds 14 days to the end of the subscription term. This corner case occurs if a user's backup license is still active when the license administrator changes the VLM license and the user connects to the VLM server. Workaround: There is currently no known workaround for this issue. |
