Creating a Federation of Multiple DataFinder Instances
Use Federations to access data from multiple DataFinder instances with a single search query. A Federation groups multiple DataFinder instances from the SystemLink or distributed servers and combines their search results.
Note You can only access a Federation from Data
Navigation if the federated DataFinder instances are on the same SystemLink
server. Enable Web Access in the Federation to access it from Data
Navigation.
- In Data Indexing, click Federation Instances.
- Click .
- Enter a name for the Federation instance. Clients use the name to connect to the Federation instance.
- Enable Export member connection automatically and click Finish.
- Save the connection file of the Federation instance.
- Switch to the Dashboard and click DataFinder Instances.
- Select the DataFinder instance you want to add to the Federation instance and select .
- Enable Join a Federation and click Add.
- Select the Federation member connection file, click .

Click Apply to accept the settings.
The Federation instance you added is now in the List of all joined Federation instances under Federation-Membership.
- Optional:
Repeat steps 5 through 10 to add more DataFinder instances to the Federation.
Note To add a DataFinder instance to an existing Federation, select the Federation instance and click and save the connection file with the file extension *.fed to a place where you can access it from the DataFinder instance.
For a list of Federation instance members, switch to the Dashboard, click Federation Instances, select the instance, and click . For a list of all Federation instances which a DataFinder instance has joined, switch to the Dashboard, click DataFinder Instances, select the instance and click .
Note It may take a while for the Federation
instance to recognize the added DataFinder instance as a member. Open the member
information of the Federation instance and click Refresh to
update the view.
