Searching for Data with Federated DataFinder Instances
Use Federations to search for data across multiple DataFinder instances on your SystemLink Server or distributed servers.
Clients, such as Data Navigation, DIAdem, or LabVIEW address their search queries to the Federation instance, which transfers the queries to the members of the Federation instance. The members return their search results to the Federation instance, which combines the results and returns them to the client. Refer to Forming a Federation from Multiple DataFinder Instances to learn how to set up a Federation instance.

Use Federations to access data from multiple DataFinder instances with a single search query. A Federation groups multiple DataFinder instances from the SystemLink or distributed servers and combines their search results.
- Finding Data from DIAdem and LabVIEW Clients
Connect client software, such as DIAdem or LabVIEW, to a DataFinder instance on SystemLink Server to browse and search in the data of this instance. To do so, save the connection parameters in a client configuration file ( .urf ) and enable the connection on the client computer.
