Use the Test Specification to create an event trigger to generate a response from your system.

This feature is available only as part of a complete FlexLogger license. Refer to FlexLogger Editions for more information.

  1. In the Test Specification document, select Add Event.
    The Configure Event dialog opens.
  2. Create the If condition that triggers the event.

    Channel value change
    1. Select Select channel in the If condition section. Map to a configured channel for the event to monitor for a value change.
    2. Specify the type of Value change the If condition uses to determine the event trigger.
    3. Specify the data Value that triggers the event.
    4. For analog triggers, specify the Hysteresis for the If condition. Hysteresis is the threshold relative to the Value. This prevents re-triggering of the event if the data varies due to noise or jitter in the signal.
    Critical alarm on channel(s) Select Select channel in the If condition section and map to channel(s) that have configured Critical alarms.
    Warning alarm on channel(s) Select Select channel in the If condition and map to channel(s) that have configured Warning alarms.
    Test time elapsed Specify the total duration time of the test. When the test duration is complete, the event triggers the output action.
    Test started Select to trigger automated actions when a test session begins.
    Test stopped Select to trigger the output action when the test is manually or automatically stopped.
    Button pressed Select Select action button in the If condition section and choose an action button on the Screen document.
    Note Multiple events set to trigger on the same condition execute asynchronously. You can't control the order of execution.
  3. Create the Then condition that determines the action the event generates.

    Set analog output
    1. Select Select channel in the Then condition section. Map to a configured channel that the event controls.
    2. Specify the Value to generate.
    Set digital output
    1. Select Select channel in the Then condition section. Map to a configured channel that the event controls.
    2. Specify the Value to generate.
    Reset output channels Select Select channel in the Then condition section. Map to a channel with enabled reset values.
  4. Select OK to create the event.
    The event appears. You can edit or delete the event from the Test Specification document.
  5. Select RUN to begin the test and enable the event.
    Tip You can disable or enable an event while running a test. To disable/enable the event during testing, hover over the event row and click Disable.
Notice If you set an output value at the same time as an event sets a value, FlexLogger ignores one of the requests. This makes the final set value unpredictable.
