Modifying Component Labels and Attributes

The Label tab of the properties dialog contains the following. Edit as required.

| RefDes |
The unique reference designator (identifier) for the selected component. This must be composed of letters, numbers and underscores only. Special characters and spaces are not accepted. |
| Section |
This appears for multi-section components only. Select the desired section of the multi-section component from the drop-down list. ![]() |
| Advanced RefDes configuration |
Displays the Advanced RefDes Configuration dialog box. Use this dialog box to assign as few ICs as possible to multi-section components, and to optimize the use of their gates. |
| Label | This is an identifier for the component. |
| Attributes |
An attribute can be any name or value. For example, you could use the manufacturer name or something that is meaningful to you such as “new resistor” or “revised May 15”. Name—Enter as desired. Value—Enter as desired. Show—Click in this column and select one of All, Value or None to select the attributes to display on the schematic. |
If the attributes don't appear on the schematic, select Options»Sheet properties»Sheet visibility, or the Display tab in the component's properties dialog.
