Modifying Component Labels and Attributes

The unique reference designator (identifier) for the selected component.

This must be composed of letters, numbers and underscores only. Special characters and spaces are not accepted.

This appears for multi-section components only. Select the desired section of the multi-section component from the drop-down list.

  When opening a design file from an earlier version of Multisim, Multi-section components whose information does not match the component in the lastest database are not automatically updated. You will not be able to change the section of such a component. In this case a message displays when you click Section. Use the Update Components dialog box (update symbol and package), or click Replace in the component's properties dialog box to change it.

Displays the Advanced RefDes Configuration dialog box.

Use this dialog box to assign as few ICs as possible to multi-section components, and to optimize the use of their gates.

An attribute can be any name or value. For example, you could use the manufacturer name or something that is meaningful to you such as “new resistor” or “revised May 15”.

Name—Enter as desired.

Value—Enter as desired.

Show—Click in this column and select one of All, Value or None to select the attributes to display on the schematic.
