LabVIEW SoftMotion Selection Guide

The LabVIEW SoftMotion Module is a complete solution for creating reliable, high performance motion systems with a graphical programming approach. As an add-on to the LabVIEW development environment, the module allows you to integrate motion control with a complete machine design platform and synchronize motion to measurements, vision, and other I/O. With the SoftMotion Module you can implement a complete motion controller in embedded hardware devices such as CompactRIO, PXI, or NI Industrial Controllers.
  • LabVIEW SoftMotion Module Lite1 – provides simple, single-axis, point-to-point motion (a subset of LabVIEW SoftMotion Module functionality) for free using the following hardware:
  • LabVIEW SoftMotion Module – provides full support for coordinated motion and custom motion applications on Windows, LabVIEW Real-Time, and LabVIEW FPGA targets. You can use it to create coordinate spaces, easily achieve multi-axis synchronization, and perform electronic gearing and camming on a wide range of hardware:
    • NI 9501, 9502, 9503, 9505 C Series drive modules with customizable motor control IP in LabVIEW FPGA
    • C Series I/O modules for NI CompactRIO
    • Custom axis configurations using other targets such as NI sbRIO
    • NI SoftMotion for SOLIDWORKS – offers pioneer tools for realizing virtual prototypes. You can apply your custom motion application to a 3D CAD model and visualize, simulate, and validate your application before deploying to hardware.

Notes:
1. The LabVIEW SoftMotion Module Lite is used when the module is not activated and the evaluation period has expired.
2. SoftMotion FPGA support requires the LabVIEW FPGA Module.
