What Is a PXI Waveform Generator?

A waveform generator produces precise waveforms, including sine, square, triangle, and ramp, as well as arbitrary, user-defined waveforms using sequences of data or streaming continuously from a host or peer-to-peer instrument within mixed-signal test systems.

InstrumentStudio™ Interactive Software

PXI Waveform Generators are shipped with an interactive soft front panel called InstrumentStudio for ready-to-run operation. You can also combine your PXI Waveform Generator with a PXI Oscilloscope into a single view.

Standard Waveform Generation

A waveform generator can output many types of standard functions, such as sine, square, triangle, ramp, or noise waveforms, and user-defined arbitrary waveforms using the NI-FGEN API in LabVIEW, LabWindows™/CVI, and .NET languages.

Waveform Scripting

With the NI-FGEN driver, you can define standard and arbitrary waveforms that can be looped and burst using scripts.

Waveform Streaming

Waveform streaming is critical to generating long or constantly changing signals. A waveform generator can stream hundreds of megasamples per second to instrument memory.
