NI Data Link Test Framework 2025 Q3 Changes

Learn about new features, behavior changes, and other updates in NI Data Link Test Framework 2025 Q3.

Introduced September 2025.

Behavior Changes

Note NI Data Link Test Framework 2025 Q3 contains changes that are not compatible with previous versions. When upgrading to NI Data Link Test Framework 2025 Q3 from a previous version, you must first uninstall all NI Data Link Test Framework and DLsc packages from the machine before installation.

All LabVIEW FPGA projects using the Data Link System Component advanced constructors require updates to replace the constructors. The Create Resources Aurora 64b66b Advanced VIs will be broken and must be replaced. Refer to Supported Protocols in Defining Endpoints for details on implementing advanced constructors. Existing compilations are not affected.

New Features

NI Data Link Test Framework 2025 Q3 provides support for the following features:

  • Added support for the FlexRIO FPGA Target PXIe-7903-DDR1280.
  • New PXIe-7903 FPGA and Vivado Export templates targeting 5 GS/s I/Q streaming applications with PXIe-7903 to PXIe-5842 VST (4 GHz Bandwidth) pairs.
  • Support for internal loopback configuration of Aurora 64B/66B links.
  • Support for links with one endpoint controlled outside the host application space.
  • Updated DLsc Advanced Aurora Constructor Interface to support expanded PXIe-7903 CLIP options.
  • Support for compiled execution.

Hardware Support

NI Data Link Test Framework 2025 Q3 adds support for the following instruments:

  • PXIe-5842 VST (4 GHz Bandwidth)—Ports 0:3, Duplex, 5 GS/s
  • PXIe-7903—Ports 8:11, Duplex, 5 GS/s

NI Data Link Test Framework 2024 Q3 Changes

Learn about new features, behavior changes, and other updates in NI Data Link Test Framework 2024 Q3.

Introduced September 2024.

New Features

NI Data Link Test Framework 2024 Q3 provides support for the following features:

  • I/Q data streaming between supported devices up to 2.5 GS/s (2 GHz instantaneous bandwidth) per direction.[1]1 With the PXIe-5842 VST and PXIe-7903 coprocessor. Using the PXIe-5840/5841 VST and PXIe-6594/7903/7915 coprocessor streams a maximum sample rate of 1.25 GS/s (1 GHz IBW). Maximum sample rate is defined per data stream direction (Transmit and Receive).
  • Support for multiple streaming endpoints on a PXIe-7903 coprocessor.
  • Independently control multiple data stream links between shared hardware resources.
  • Template project creation through the LabVIEW Create Project Interface.
  • FPGA template that demonstrates the Vivado Export supported workflow.
  • Examples that demonstrate a possible workflow using the framework to develop a modem application.

Hardware Support

NI Data Link Test Framework 2024 Q3 provides support for the following instruments:

  • PXIe-5840—Port 0, Duplex, 1.25 GS/s
  • PXIe-5841—Port 0, Duplex, 1.25 GS/s
  • PXIe-5842 VST (Up to 2 GHz Bandwidth) or PXIe-5842 VST with 54 GHz Frequency Extension—Ports 0:1, Duplex, 2.5 GS/s
  • PXIe-6594—Port 2, Duplex, 1.25 GS/s
  • PXIe-7903:
    • Port 8, Duplex, 1.25 GS/s
    • Port 9, Duplex, 1.25 GS/s
    • Ports 4:5, Duplex, 2.5 GS/s
    • Ports 6:7, Duplex, 2.5 GS/s
  • PXIe-7915—Port 0, Duplex, 1.25 GS/s

1 With the PXIe-5842 VST and PXIe-7903 coprocessor. Using the PXIe-5840/5841 VST and PXIe-6594/7903/7915 coprocessor streams a maximum sample rate of 1.25 GS/s (1 GHz IBW). Maximum sample rate is defined per data stream direction (Transmit and Receive).
