Update Service saves the installers of any update you select to download and install. Complete the following steps to change the location of the saved updates:

  1. Select the File»Preferences menu item to launch the Update Service Preferences dialog box.
    Note Depending on your version of Microsoft Windows, Update Service may close and reopen to request permission to run with administrator privileges. If prompted for administrator privileges, click Yes to launch Update Service and display the Preferences dialog box.
  2. Enter a location where you want to save the updates in the Directory to save updates box.
If you want to install or reinstall saved updates, navigate to the saved updates directory and launch setup.exe for the update you want to install.
Note
  • This setting affects all users on this computer.
  • Updates that have already been saved will not be moved if you change the directory.
  • If you delete any updates from this directory and later use NI software to create an application that contains these updates, the installer build tools prompt you for the necessary files. For more information about this issue, visit ni.com/info and enter the Info Code DeletingUpdates.
