Rules Tab - Configure Sequence Analyzer Available Rules Dialog Box

Rules Tab

Use the Rules tab to add, remove, and edit custom TestStand Sequence Analyzer rules on the computer.

The Rules tab contains the following sections:

  • BuiltinRules.tsarules —Shows the ID, name, category, severity, and description of the built-in rules that National Instruments provides in the <TestStand> \Components\Analyzer\BuiltinRules.tsarules file.
Note You cannot modify the built-in rules.
  • CustomRules.tsarules —Shows the ID, name, category, severity, and description of the custom rules on the computer. TestStand stores custom rules in the <TestStand Application Data> \Cfg\CustomRules.tsarules file.

Right-click a rule and select Insert Rule from the context menu to create a custom rule. You can also click the New Rule button located to the right of the <Insert New Rule> item in the Rule ID column to launch the Edit Rule dialog box.

Double-click a rule, right-click a rule and select Edit Rule from the context menu, or click the Edit Rule button located to the right of the Rule ID column to launch the Edit Rule dialog box, in which you can view general and advanced settings for built-in rules and create and edit general and advanced settings for custom rules. You can also edit the general settings of custom rules directly on the Rules tab.

You can drag and drop custom rules to change the order of the list. The order of the rules in this list does not affect the order of the rules on the Rules pane of the Current Sequence Analyzer Project window in the TestStand Sequence Editor or on the Rules tab of the stand-alone TestStand Sequence Analyzer application , which always shows the rules in alphabetical order. You can cut, copy, paste, and delete custom rules.
