External Diff/Merge Tool Tab

Use the External Diff/Merge Tool tab to specify an external tool for showing the differences in string properties and comments.

The External Diff/Merge Tool tab contains the following options:

  • Use External Differ Tool —Enable this option when you want to specify an external tool for comparing string properties and comments in two files. When you enable this option, the following additional options become available:
    • Location —The absolute file path to the external tool you want to use.
    • Arguments —The arguments to pass to the external tool. The arguments must always begin with %1%2 .
  • Use External Merge Tool —Enable this option when you want to specify an external tool for comparing and merging differences in string properties and comments in three files. When you enable this option, the following additional options become available:
    • Location —The absolute file path to the external tool you want to use.
    • Arguments —The arguments to pass to the external tool. The arguments must always begin with %b%1%2%r .

Click Launch External Diff/Merge Tool from the Differences Table context menu, from within the TestStand File Diff and Merge utility for a selected value element or a comment element of a string property, or from the View Change Details dialog box. The TestStand File Diff and Merge utility launches a dialog box that remains visible until you close it or until you exit the external tool.
