Licensing and Activating SystemLink Products

License and activate your SystemLink products.

Ensure that you have set up a SystemLink server.
  1. Complete the steps for the tool you want to use.
    Option Description
    Single Seat License

    Activate a SystemLink small or medium license through NI License Manager.
    Volume License Manager
    1. Complete steps 1-4 of Getting Started With NI Volume License Manager (NI VLM).
    2. Open NI VLM and click Licenses.
    3. If any of your licenses list Named-User as the license model, contact services@ni.com to request that they update the license model to one of the following settings.
      License Model
      SystemLink TDM Computer-Based (not concurrent)
      Other Unmanaged Concurrent
    4. If any of your SystemLink licenses list Computer-Based as the license model, complete the process for Getting Started with NI VLM: Adding Client Permissions to assign permissions to your SystemLink server.
    FlexNet Tools
    1. Complete the process for Getting Started with FlexNet Publisher Configuration.
    2. If any of your SystemLink licenses list Computer-Based as the license model, complete the process for Construct Options File for FlexNet Publisher to assign permissions to your SystemLink server.
  2. Open NI License Manager and navigate to the Network Licenses tab.
  3. If you don't see license and licensing server information, use the troubleshooting articles. If you still cannot see the license information, contact NI Technical Support.
  4. Open NI SystemLink Server Configuration and select NI SystemLink Service Manager » Restart to restart all your SystemLink services.
Once you have licensed and activated you SystemLink products, connect your targets to SystemLink. For more information, refer to Related tasks and Related information.
