OBSERVATION: Digital signals include input (DI), output (DO), and mixed (DIO). Analog signals include input (AI), output (AO), and mixed (AIO). Signals are generally listed in documentation as DIO x.0, AI x.0+, AO x.0+, etc., where x is the bank number, so an analog output signal on bank 4, element C, would be AO 4.1+.
OBSERVATION: NI cable names do not necessarily match the signal categories here, and the names are not always consistent; some are based on cable construction, not final pinout. For example, SH68M-4IXBF DIO DIFF (PN 134727-xx) has banks of single-ended DIO, but the cable is routed differentially (twisted pairs of signal and reference). Alternatively, SH68M-4IXBF AO SE (PN 134728-xx) has the same construction as SH68M-4IXBF DIO DIFF (twisted pairs of signal and reference), but is named as a single-ended cable. Carefully review the cable dimensional drawings on ni.com for pinout and construction details.
OBSERVATION: More signal types may be added as needed. Contact NI for details or to submit recommendations.
