Installing the PCIe-6509
- Power off and unplug the computer.
- Access the computer system expansion slots. This step might require you to remove one or more access panels on the computer case.
- Locate a compatible slot and remove the corresponding slot cover on the computer back panel.
- Touch any metal part of the computer to discharge any static electricity.
-
Insert the PCIe-6509 into the applicable PCIe system slot. Gently rock the PCIe-6509 into place. Do not force the PCIe-6509 into place.
Notice You cannot install PCIe devices in PCI slots and vice versa. PCIe devices support plugging into a PCIe slot of higher lane width.

Secure the module mounting bracket to the computer back panel rail.
Note Tightening mounting screws increases mechanical stability and also electrically connects the front panel to the computer case, which can improve signal quality and electromagnetic performance.
- Optional: Connect the PC and PCIe-6509 disk drive power connectors. NI recommends you use a disk drive power connector that is not in the same power chain as the hard drive.
- Reinstall access panels onto the computer case, reconnect the power cable to the computer, and power on the computer.
- Install accessories and terminal blocks as their installation guides in the shipping kits describe.
- Attach sensors and signal lines to the device, terminal block, or accessory terminals.
