Single Point Measurements
Each measurement module may additionally provide one shot measurements (also called one point measurements, one shot measurements or single shot measurements). This measurement type writes one value of all channels that are defined for this measurement file to the disk.
The time this writing occurs is set by a trigger. This trigger may be set manually by clicking a button in the user interface or automatically by the application, when a certain event has occurred.
Single Point Measurements with Third Party Data
It is possible to add data from third party devices to PAtools measurement data. This case has to be considered separately, since the third party device may have non-responding time spans. Nevertheless it is possible to include the data of these devices e.g., in the statistic measurements if some conditions are fulfilled.

The communication for recording the data for a measurement phase requires these steps:
- PAtools triggers the third party device to prepare the next measurement.
- When the preparation is finished, the third party device signals this to PAtools.
- The measurement periods starts.
- After the measurement is finished there may be an additional time until the third party device is able to transfer the data to PAtools. During this time span PAtools waits for the external data.
- This time span can be ended by a timeout. The timeout can either be zero or twice the measurement time.
- After the data of the third party device have been sent to PAtools they are added to the PAtools measurement and written to the next record in the results file.
