Creating a Wireless Network

You can create wireless networks in MAX using supported devices, such as the myRIO-1900. Complete the following steps to create a wireless access point.

  1. Navigate to the Network Settings tab in MAX.
  2. In the Wireless Adapter wlan0 section, select Create wireless network from the Wireless Mode drop-down list.
  3. Select your location from the Country drop-down list.
  4. Enter the public name for your wireless network in the SSID text box.
  5. Select a channel from the Channel drop-down list. NI recommends selecting a channel with minimal interference from neighboring channels.
  6. Select your security settings from the Security drop-down list.
    • To create a public wireless network to which anyone can join, select Open.
    • To create a private wireless network that requires a password to join, select WPA2 Personal. If you select this option, MAX displays the WPA Passphrase text box for you to create the network password.
  7. Click the Save button in the MAX toolbar to commit your changes.

After you create the network, verify that other clients can connect to the new network.
