An evaluation period allows you to use an NI software product for a limited time before purchasing or activating it with a valid license. Available features and restrictions vary by product.

After the evaluation period ends, you must purchase or activate the product with a valid license to continue using it. You can evaluate most NI products in accordance with the NI license agreement.

Note Extended evaluation isn't available for all products.

Evaluation Methods

How you start and extend your evaluation period depends on your product, client version, and the evaluation workflow available for your software.

Evaluation access is available through one of the following methods:

  • Entitlement-Based Trial—An entitlement-based trial is associated with your NI User Account. Sign in with your NI account to access eligible trial software.
  • Legacy Evaluation Period—A legacy evaluation period is managed through NI License Manager. Depending on the product and client version, you might be able to extend the evaluation period automatically or manually.

    The options available in License Manager vary by software, client version, and evaluation workflow.
