The Shared Variable Engine (SVE) generates alarms and events when errors occur in LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module applications.

You can view these alarms and events by using the Distributed System Manager. You also can view errors for logged data in the Historical Data Viewer, available in the Measurement & Automation Explorer. LabVIEW logs engine alarm errors to the database for the process that generates the alarm. If this database is not available, LabVIEW logs the errors to the default database under the System process.

The SVE also reports server status updates and critical errors, such as invalid process configurations or failed database connections. You can view these errors in the Windows Event Viewer. In the Windows Control Panel, select Administrative Tools»Event Viewer to display the Windows Event Viewer.

DSC Module VIs and functions report errors by using standard LabVIEW error in and error out indicators.
