Remove a missing device from a layout and replace it with another device in InstrumentStudio.

Use replacement to remove a missing device from a layout and add a replacement device. When you replace a device, InstrumentStudio removes the existing device configuration and creates a new configuration for the replacement device.

To replace a missing device, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Edit Layout window in one of the following ways:
    • Select the Edit layout icon (An icon of a layout that contains one large and three small panels. You can use this button to edit layouts in InstrumentStudio.) in the instrument header menu.
    • Select Add/Remove Devices from an instrument settings menu (Icon depicting a cogwheel for the instrument settings menu of InstrumentStudio.).
  2. Locate the missing device.
The missing device has a caution icon (Icon depicting a red triangle with a white exclamation point in the middle.) next to it.
  3. Click the × icon next to the missing device.
The system removes the device from the layout.
  4. Add a replacement device.
    • If the missing device belongs to a group, add a replacement device of the same type to the group.
    • Alternatively, create a new panel for the replacement device.
  5. Click OK.
The system saves the layout changes.
  6. Click Run on the updated panel.

InstrumentStudio removes the missing device from the layout and creates a new configuration for the replacement device.
