DSTA includes specific events you can use in tandem with triggers to coordinate actions across instruments. Triggers and clocks are generally considered input signals. Exportable triggers and clocks, such as the Sample Clock, can also be considered output signals. Output signals that do not have a trigger or clock counterpart are called events.

Events are generated to signify a device state change, the arrival of a certain kind of sample, the production of a certain number of samples, or the passage of time.

  • Ready for Start—Indicates the instrument is configured and ready to receive a Start Trigger.
  • Ready for Advance—Indicates that the acquisition of a previous record is complete and that the instrument has entered its Wait for Advance Trigger state.
  • Ready for Ref—Indicates when the instrument enters its Wait for Reference Trigger while Sampling state.
  • End of Record Event—Indicates that the current record has been acquired and that the instrument has entered its Record Complete state.
  • Done—Indicates the device has completed its acquisition.
