Calibration maximizes the accuracy of the BTS-16110.

BTS-16110 calibration circuitry corrects gain and offset errors. Calibrate the device to minimize AI errors caused by time and temperature drift at run time. No external circuitry is necessary; an internal reference ensures high accuracy and stability over time and temperature changes.

The BTS-16110 supports external (factory) calibration and internal background calibration.

Calibration option Application Frequency
External factory calibration Recalibrates for time drift of analog references, attenuators, and other board-level components. Every two years

Contact NI Support when calibration is needed.

Background Calibration Adjusts the scaling constants for analog input with respect to the onboard reference. Constantly performed on the device in the background when background calibration is enabled.

All NI measurement devices receive NIST-traceable calibration before shipping.

The NI-BTS-16110 palette provides VIs to perform calibration tasks in LabVIEW.

Background Calibration

Background calibration reduces errors caused by time and temperature drift. Background calibration recalculates certain internal reference values, gains, and offsets to significantly improve accuracy over the full operating temperature range of the device.

Every measurement device performs within its specifications over a finite temperature range and time. To mitigate these changes and to get performance close to the specifications, you must keep background calibration on.
Note If you are using the BTS-16110 in 1.25 MS/s mode, such as for dynamic signal acquisition applications, you can pause background calibration to reduce high frequency transients.

Background calibration occurs in the background and does not interfere with measurement streaming.
